BMW and High Schools
BMW Manufacturing supports education throughout South Carolina. No matter what the future holds for our children, it begins in the classrooms of our elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. Specifically, BMW understands the important roles that educators and innovative learning materials play in the success of mathematics and science education for youth. Through our partnership with South Carolina’s Coalition for Mathematics and Science (SCCMS), BMW is able to promote quality education in South Carolina. BMW is proud to partner with this program in its mission to make learning fun for the children of our state. For more information on SCCMS visit the project’s website at www.sccoalition.org.
By the time a student arrives in high school, the world begins magically to unfold and all things seem possible. BMW Manufacturing works both inside and outside the classroom to help students realize that so much is possible and within their reach. Here are just a few ways we’re making that happen.
S.C. Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics
South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics gives academically advanced juniors and seniors from across the state the opportunity to explore their interests, discover their world, and grow socially as well as academically. Students learn to think creatively, develop their own ideas, and express themselves in and out of the classroom. Established in 1988 and located in Hartsville, S.C., GSSM is ranked among the best academic secondary schools in the nation. In addition to supporting the school financially, BMW Manufacturing is also a member of the school’s Business Advisory Council and BMW associates also sit on the GSSM Board of Directors. For more information, visit the school’s website at www.scgssm.com.
S.C. Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities
BMW Manufacturing also realizes the critical role that creativity plays in the process of innovation. Our support of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities helps ensure the creative process continues to thrive among these gifted students. The GSAH provides South Carolina’s artistically gifted high school students an environment of academic as well as creative excellence. Here, students pursue their pre-professional interests in creative writing, music, dance, visual arts, and drama. For more information visit the school’s website at www.scgsah.state.sc.us.
