2012 BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation Benefits 27 Charities Through Tournament Sponsored Programs
Presents Upstate Families With An Affordable, Charity-Driven Experience
Twenty-seven Upstate charities will benefit from programs sponsored by the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation golf tournament.
Each charity will earn funds through volunteer recruitment and sales of tournament tickets and one-day pro-am teams.
“These programs present a risk-free opportunity for the charities to earn funds for their respective organizations,” said Bob Nitto, president of South Carolina Charities, Inc., the non-profit organization that manages the tournament. “With Chanticleer joining Thornblade and The Carolina Country Club in the 2012 course rotation, we have the potential to have more spectators and volunteers than ever before. We hope that translates into more funds for each of our 27 charitable partners.”
In addition to raising money for local non-profits, the tournament presents families with a great opportunity to experience a fun and wholesome outdoor event. One-day tickets to the tournament are priced at $10, and children 14 and under are granted complimentary grounds admission when accompanied by an adult ticket holder. Complimentary daily grounds admission is also granted for all active duty, retired, Reserve military and veterans, along with their dependents. Furthermore, parking and shuttle service are included with the purchase of all tickets.
“It’s because of our incredible sponsors that we’re able to keep our ticket prices low, offer free admission to youth and our military and still donate ticket sales funds to our charities,” explained Tournament Director Darin MacDonald. “These sponsors underwrite the cost of the tournament giving families the chance to come out to the course and watch Nationwide Tour pros and celebrities without paying a high ticket price.”
Tournament tickets are now for sale and may be purchased at www.buybmwtickets.com. Charities will receive 100 percent of the funds from all Daily ($10), Patron ($25) and Clubhouse ($50) Credentials. During the checkout process, buyers can choose a charitable beneficiary by selecting one of the 27 organizations from a pulldown menu.
Families are also invited to register to volunteer. Volunteers as young as 14 are invited to become Standard Bearers during the tournament, and, if space allows, family members may be assigned to positions where they’re able to work together.
Volunteer registration for the 2012 tournament opens February 1. Opportunities to volunteer include: hospitality, marshal, scoring, transportation and more.
Individuals interested in volunteering should visit www.bmwcharitygolf.com and click on the Volunteer Registration tab on the left side of the website’s main page. From there, volunteers may choose to register online or via paper application.
“Our volunteers are indispensable; we simply couldn’t run the tournament without them,” explained Tournament Director Darin MacDonald. “Over the years we’ve been fortunate to not only have a great number of volunteers, but to have an amazing group that’s dedicated to helping run the tournament and volunteer their time for charity.”
The Volunteer Registration fee is $50, however, Early Bird Registration ($40) is available through March 9, 2012. The registration fee covers the volunteer package, which includes one tournament golf shirt, one tournament cap or visor, one volunteer credential, one guest credential, one 2012 volunteer pin, as well as food and beverages while volunteering. Volunteer positions are subject to availability and will not be assigned until payment is received.
To donate $40 of the registration fee to one of the tournament’s charities, volunteers must make a note of the organization’s name in the “organization” area of the online or paper application.
For those interested in taking part in a one-day pro-am, twosomes and foursomes are now available in two events occurring during tournament week: The BMW Performance Driving School Pro-Am on Monday, May 14 at Thornblade Club and The Ultimate Driving Machine Pro-Am on Tuesday, May 15 at The Greenville Country Club’s Chanticleer course. Tournament beneficiaries will receive half of the purchase price for all teams earmarked for their charity. Contact Mike Ivester at 864.630.9276 or email@example.com to reserve a team.
