2015 BMW Charity Pro-Am Raises $758,985 for Local Charities.

Greenville, SC - 08/18/2015

GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 18, 2015) – The 15th annual BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation
golf tournament raised $758,985 for Upstate charities. The tournament’s 2015 charity earnings push the total
charitable giving of the event to more than $11.5 million since 2001.
“The tournament’s impact on the community over the past 15 years has been exciting to watch,” explained BMW
Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation president Bob Nitto. “The economic impact of tournament week
coupled with the impact of more than $11.5 million to charity makes all involved very proud.”
Tournament officials presented checks to charity representatives at the Charity Check Presentation presented by
High Cotton, held at the downtown Greenville restaurant.
The tournament’s charity partners in 2015 were BMW Car Club of America Foundation – Street Survival, Child
Evangelism Fellowship of Greenville, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Greenville Family Partnership, Greenville Tech
Foundation, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Mobile Meals of Spartanburg,
National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), New Foundations Home for Children, Palmetto Animal
Assisted Life Services (PAALS), Project HOPE Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas, Set
Free Alliance, Shriners Hospital for Children-Greenville, SYNNEX Share the Magic, The First Tee of Greenville, The
Reserve at Lake Keowee Charitable Foundation, Urban League of the Upstate and Vested Partners.
The BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation provides charities with the opportunity to earn funds
through three tournament-sponsors programs: ticket sales, volunteer recruitment and one-day pro-am team sales.
The 2016 charity partners and programs will be announced later this year.
“These funds are the culmination of an immense amount of hard work performed by our charities, volunteers, staff
and sponsors,” said Nitto. “It’s gratifying to see 20 local organizations walk away with checks that support such
worthy causes.”
Awards were also presented today to the 2015 volunteers of the week. Those volunteers are Kim
Calhoun (Thornblade Club), Tom Triplitt (Green Valley Country Club), Sherry Haithcock (The Reserve at Lake
Keowee), Michelle Palmer (Transportation) and Jack McCarthy (Web.com).
The pro champion of the 2015 tournament was Australian Rod Pampling who fired a 5-under-par 66 during the
tournament’s final round. Pampling, a two-time winner on the PGA TOUR, finished 25-under par and beat out Texan
Kelly Kraft by two shots and earned his first Web.com Tour title.
The BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation is the only tournament on the Web.com Tour where
168 amateurs and celebrities are grouped with 168 Web.com Tour professionals in a four-day better-ball competition
over three courses. Amateurs, celebrities and pros rotate between the three courses on Thursday, Friday and
Saturday, with celebrities playing once at each course by the end of Saturday’s third round.
In 2013, Clemson University’s International Institute of Tourism Research and Development conducted a study of the
economic impacts of expenditures related to tournament operations and found that the 2013 tournament generated
total direct spending of $4.712 million, supported 139 jobs, generated net local government revenues of $541,048
and net state government revenues of $868,479, and yielded $6.744 million in total output/impact.
