Celebrity Walk of Fame, Hootie & Costner Concerts Highlight 2007 BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs Special Events

GREENVILLE, S.C. - 04/17/2007

Fans are expected to gather on Main St. in front of the Westin Poinsett Hotel, Friday evening, May 18, at 7 p.m. for the Celebrity Walk of Fame, where celebrities participating in the 2007 BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs will assemble to greet fans and sign autographs. Celebrities that are scheduled to appear include: Kevin Costner, George Lopez, David James Elliott, Greg Kinnear, Catherine Bell and Wayne Gretzky to name a few (the complete list can be found at www.bmwcharitygolf.com). Legendary golfer Gary Player is also expected to attend.

Award-winning band Hootie & The Blowfish will also perform as part of the tournament, Thursday, May 17 at The BI-LO Center beginning at 9 p.m. Singer/songwriter Josh Kelley will open for the band at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Reserved-seating tickets are available through local Ticketmaster outlets – (864) 233-2525 (Greenville); (864) 576-1550 (Spartanburg); (828) 251-5505 (Asheville); (803) 783-2222 (Columbia) – from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, through the Ticketmaster website at www.ticketmaster.com, or at the BI-LO Center ticket office. VIP tickets are also available exclusively through the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation. These tickets include garage parking, access to the VIP floor party complete with an open bar and catered food, plus a tournament Clubhouse credential good for all four days of golf. The final special event tied to the golf tournament is the public concert of Oscar Award-winning actor Kevin Costner’s band on Saturday, May 19, at Broad and Main St. in downtown Greenville at 8 p.m. The concert, which is sponsored by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Upstate is free and open to the public. Patrons are asked to bring a blanket and/or folding chair for outdoor seating. Food and concessions will be on sale. Costner and his unnamed, six-member band plays original rock and popular music.

The Celebrity Walk of Fame and concerts will highlight a week of activities surrounding the BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs golf tournament. Each event will help support the 20 Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina charities benefiting from the tournament.

The 2007 BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs golf tournament will be played May 17-20, 2007, at The Cliffs Valley, The Cliffs at Walnut Cove and The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards golf courses. All four rounds will be televised live by the Golf Channel.

The BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs is the only tournament on the Nationwide Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Nationwide Tour professionals in a three-day better-ball competition. Amateurs, celebrities and pros will rotate between each of the three courses on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the 14 lowest scoring pro-amateur/pro-celebrity teams advancing to play Sunday’s final round. Celebrities will play once at each course on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Along with a brand new BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle, the professional winner of the overall 72-hole event will take home $117,000 from the total purse of $650,000, which is one of the largest purses on the Nationwide Tour. Amateurs and celebrities will compete for individual prizes and cash donations to the charity of their choice out of the beneficiaries selected by South Carolina Charities, Inc.

The first six tournaments have raised more than $3.7 million for 80+ area charities.
