The BMW Presents the BUY.COM TOUR Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs, which will be held April 26-29, was created to raise money for local charities, promote quality of life in the Upstate, and increase community pride by involving thousands of local residents as volunteers and spectators. It is the first BUY.COM TOUR event to feature amateurs and celebrities grouped with professionals for three days of play. It will be televised live by The Golf Channel.
The $500,000 tournament, to be held at Cliffs Valley and The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards courses, will pair 156 professionals with an amateur/celebrity partner in a two-day best-ball competition. The 10 best teams (five best Pro-Am and five best Pro-Celeb) advance to play for the BMW Charity Cup on Saturday. The BUY.COM TOUR professional winner of the overall 72-hole event will take home $90,000, while the amateurs/celebrities will compete for individual prizes and cash donations to the charity of their choice selected from the above group.
Tickets to the tournament can be purchased beginning March 24, for $20 at any Spinx convenience store. All purchasers of tickets from Spinx are automatically entered to win a free Hitachi big screen TV. Proceeds from the sale of tickets benefit the above charities.
