The BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation Announces Sales Competition Between Four Spartanburg Colleges
Today, officials from the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation announced a new initiative to increase tournament attendance, ticket sales and sponsorship in Spartanburg county by involving students from four local colleges.
Over the next eight months, students from Converse College, Spartanburg Community College, USC Upstate and Wofford College will compete in The Collegiate Challenge. The Challenge will allow teams from each college to sell tournament inventory. Tournament inventory available through each team includes corporate skyboxes at The Carolina Country Club, tickets to The Champion’s Pavilion at The Carolina Country Club and foursomes in The BMW Collegiate Challenge Pro-Am on May 16, 2012 at The Country Club of Spartanburg.
Spartanburg county charities will also benefit from The Collegiate Challenge. The winning foursome of The BMW Collegiate Challenge Pro-Am on May 16 will be recognized with a $24,000 donation (based on a full field of 24 teams) to be split among all eligible charities chosen to participate in the 2012 tournament.
“The Challenge gives students the chance to gain resume-building experience while benefiting their college and local charities,” explained Tournament Director Darin MacDonald. “And it’s an exciting and inventive way for the tournament to gain momentum in Spartanburg.”
“The Collegiate Challenge initiative is a great opportunity for Spartanburg to retain an outstanding sporting event, benefit local charities, and to showcase our community as a thriving college town,” said Tom Holgate, organizer of the program and President of American Credit Acceptance, which is based in Spartanburg. “Our team of accomplished local business leaders and school officials will remain dedicated to The Collegiate Challenge all the way up to tournament time, and we are very confident the students’ results will be impressive.”
