GREENVILLE, S.C. - 02/15/2006

Looking for an opportunity to see Hollywood superstars such as Kevin Costner, Wayne Gretzky, or Catherine Bell? What about legendary golfer Gary Player? Well, here’s your chance!

Volunteers are needed for the 2006 BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs golf tournament at The Cliffs Valley, The Cliffs at Walnut Cove and The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards golf courses where Costner, Gretzky, Bell and Player, to name a few, have competed in the past. Opportunities to volunteer include: hospitality, marshal, on-and-off course, scoring, transportation, and others.

To receive an application, call (864) 297-1660 or log on to the tournament’s website at www.bmwcharitygolf.com where an application can be completed online. Applications must be completed and returned by March 15, 2006, with a $35 uniform package fee. The uniform package includes a golf shirt and hat, two passes to the tournament (one for the volunteer and one guest pass), food and beverages for volunteers during shifts, and an invitation to the all-volunteer party.

Uniform pick-up is Saturday, April 22, 2006, at The Cliffs Valley golf course. A post card will be mailed to all volunteers with assigned pick-up times.

Celebrities are in the process of being selected for this year’s tournament, but some of the personalities that have participated in the past include: Costner, Bell, Gretzky, Kurt Russell, former Vice President Dan Quayle, Dan Marino, Johnny Bench, Kevin Sorbo, Brad Daugherty, Cheech Marin, John O’Hurley, Steve Spurrier, Lou Holtz, George Rogers, Brian Griese, Steve Bartkowski, Alice Cooper, Ben Wright and Jennifer Mills.

The 2006 BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs golf tournament will be played April 27-30, 2006 at The Cliffs Valley, The Cliffs at Walnut Cove and The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards golf courses. All four rounds will be televised live by The Golf Channel.

The BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs is the only tournament on the Nationwide Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Nationwide Tour professionals in a three-day better-ball competition. Amateurs, celebrities and pros will rotate between each of the three courses on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the 14 lowest scoring pro-amateur/pro-celebrity teams advancing to play Sunday’s final round at The Cliffs Valley course. Celebrities will play once at each course on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The professional winner of the overall 72-hole event will take home $112,500 from the total purse of $625,000, which is one of the largest purses on the Nationwide Tour. Amateurs and celebrities will compete for individual prizes and cash donations to the charity of their choice out of the beneficiaries selected by South Carolina Charities, Inc.

The first five tournaments have raised more than $3 million for area charities.

General Admission tickets for the tournament can be purchased for $25 through one of the 29 selected charities or by calling (864) 297-1660. Children 14 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
